Bristol & District Rugby Football Combination

Ladies & Gents,

I am very sad to inform you all that we have lost a real stalwart of local rugby, Gerry Foley, who had been a long and loyal servant to his club St. Brendan's OB's RFC for many decades and who passed away yesterday.

Gerry also served Bristol Referees Society for many years, having refereed for more than 25 years.

Many of you will remember Gerry receiving his Bristish Empire Medal for services to rugby announced in the Queen's Birthday Honours in 2013 and presented to Gerry by the then Lord Lieutenant of Bristol Mary Prior at The Portway Centre during a Bristol & District Combination Member Club's Meeting later that year.

I am sure that you will join me in sending sincere condolences to his wife Joan, and to their children David and Anne at this sad time. I will of course circulate funeral details if the family so wish in due course.
